Best USB-C chargers and cables (UK, 2026)
We started out making cables for the Nokia 5110, so we're fussy about this one. One good GaN charger can replace the pile of plugs in your drawer and charge a phone, tablet and laptop from a single socket.
- Anker Nano Charger (45W) with cable is best for a phone, with a cable in the box for about £25
- UGREEN Nexode 65W 3-Port is best value, charging a laptop and phone together
- Anker Prime 67W 3-Port is best compact laptop charger
- UGREEN Nexode 100W 4-Port is best desk charger for the whole family
What GaN means, and why it matters
GaN (gallium nitride) chargers run cooler and are much smaller than old-style chargers of the same power. A 65W GaN plug is roughly the size of the old 5W iPhone cube, yet it can charge most laptops.
As a rough guide, 20W to 30W is plenty for a phone, 45W covers phones and tablets at full speed, and 65W to 100W is what you want if a laptop is in the mix.
Buy the wattage for your hungriest device. A charger with more watts than you need is safe; your phone only draws what it can take.
Cables matter as much as the charger
A cheap cable can quietly limit a good charger. For laptops, look for a USB-C cable rated for 100W or 240W, which has a small chip inside (called e-marked) that tells the charger it's safe to send full power.
Braided cables last far longer in a bag or car. Anker and UGREEN both sell braided USB-C cables rated to 100W and 240W, and both include a cable with some of the chargers below.

Common questions
Is it safe to use a 65W charger on my phone?
Yes. USB-C chargers and devices agree on how much power to send, so a phone only draws what it can handle.
What does GaN mean?
Gallium nitride. It lets chargers run cooler and be much smaller than older chargers of the same power.
Do I need a special cable for my laptop?
For more than 60W you need a USB-C cable rated for 100W or 240W. Most cheap cables are limited to 60W.
Will these work with an iPhone?
Yes. Recent iPhones charge over USB-C, and older Lightning iPhones work with a USB-C to Lightning cable.
