New phones often come without a charger in the box, and the first crack usually happens in week one. Here are the bits worth getting straight away.

Transferring to your new phone

Apple and Android both have a built-in transfer when you first switch on a new phone: put the old phone next to it and follow the steps. Back up your old phone first (iCloud, or Google One on Android), and keep the old one until you've checked your photos, messages and banking apps all came across. Then wipe the old phone before you sell it or pass it on.
